(Passive: Perfect, Continuous & Modal)
当动作发生的时间比较复杂时,be 动词要相应地变成完成式(have / had been)、进行式(was / were being)或情态动词结构(must have been、could be)。本课讲"我"第三次考驾照,作者是被考的人,所以大量用被动:I was being tested(正在被考)、I had been asked(考试前已经被要求)、the sound could be heard(声音能被听见)。
|---|---|---|
| 过去进行时被动 | was / were + being + 过去分词 | I was being tested for a licence. |
| 过去完成时被动 | had + been + 过去分词 | I had been asked to drive in heavy traffic. |
| 情态动词被动 | 情态动词 + be + 过去分词 | The sound could be heard clearly. |
| 情态动词完成式 | 情态动词 + have been + 过去分词 | He must have been pleased. |
| 完成式分词被动 | having been + 过去分词 | After having been instructed to drive out of town… |
否定:在第一个助动词后加 not(had not been asked / could not be heard)。 (Was I being tested? / Could the sound be heard?)。

- [句 3] After having been instructed to drive out of town, I began to acquire confidence.
- [句 5] The examiner must have been pleased with my performance… — must have been 对过去情况的肯定推测

- The child could have been killed. —
- ❌ I was tested when the examiner tapped. → ✅ I was being tested when the examiner tapped.
- ❌ I had been ask to drive in heavy traffic. → ✅ I had been asked to drive in heavy traffic.
- ❌ The sound could heard clearly. → ✅ The sound could be heard clearly.
- ❌ He must be pleased with my performance yesterday. → ✅ He must have been pleased with my performance yesterday. — 对过去的推测用 must have been,不用 must be。
