一般现在时 (Simple Present) · 主语 + has + the most + 形容词 + 名词 + in + 范围

• the most beautiful 是多音节形容词的最高级，前面必须加 the
• in our town 限定比较范围
• has 是 have 的第三人称单数

陈述现在的事实；最高级 + in + 范围是本课的核心句型。

2Nearly everybody enters for 'The Nicest Garden Competition' each year, but Joe wins every time.

几乎每个人每年都参加“最佳花园竞赛”，但每次都是乔获胜。

一般现在时 (Simple Present) · 主语 + enters for + 宾语 + each year, but 主语 + wins + every time

• Nearly everybody 是单数，动词加 -s：enters
• Nicest 是 nice 的最高级，用在比赛名称中
• enter for 报名参加

each year、every time 表示习惯，所以用一般现在时。

3Bill Frith's garden is larger than Joe's.

比尔·弗里斯的花园比乔的大。

一般现在时 (Simple Present) · 主语 + is + 比较级 + than + 名词所有格

• large → larger，单音节形容词加 -r
• than 后的 Joe's 代替 Joe's garden，避免重复
• Bill Frith's 是名词所有格

标准的比较级句型，比较的是两个花园，所以用所有格保持对等。

4Bill works harder than Joe and grows more flowers and vegetables, but Joe's garden is more interesting.

比尔比乔干得更勤，种的花和蔬菜也更多，但乔的花园更有趣。

一般现在时 (Simple Present) · 主语 + works + 副词比较级 + than + 名词 and grows + more + 名词, but 主语 + is + more + 形容词

• harder 是副词 hard 的比较级，修饰 works
• more flowers and vegetables 中的 more 是 many 的比较级
• more interesting 是多音节形容词比较级，than Bill's 被省略

一句话集中了副词、名词数量、多音节形容词三种比较级。

5He has made neat paths and has built a wooden bridge over a pool.

他修了整洁的小路，还在一个水池上架了一座小木桥。

现在完成时 (Present Perfect) · 主语 + has + 过去分词 + 宾语 and has + 过去分词 + 宾语 + over + 地点

• make – made – made；build – built – built
• 现在完成时强调小路和桥现在都在花园里
• over a pool 横跨水池

说明乔做过什么让花园更有意思，结果现在还能看到，用现在完成时。

6I like gardens too, but I do not like hard work.

我也喜欢花园，但我不喜欢辛苦的劳动。

一般现在时 (Simple Present) · 主语 + like + 宾语 + too, but 主语 + do not + like + 宾语

• do not like 是一般现在时的否定，主语 I 用 do
• too 放在句末表示“也”
• hard work 中 hard 是形容词，意为“辛苦的”

表达喜好，用一般现在时；否定要借助 do not。

7Every year I enter for the garden competition too, and I always win a little prize for the worst garden in the town!

每年我也参加花园竞赛，而且我总能获得一个小奖——全镇最差花园奖！

一般现在时 (Simple Present) · Every year + 主语 + enter for + 宾语, and 主语 + always + win + 宾语 + for + the + 最高级 + 名词 + in + 范围

• the worst 是 bad 的不规则最高级
• always 放在实义动词 win 之前
• in the town 限定范围

习惯性动作用一般现在时；the worst 与第一句的 the most beautiful 相呼应。
