语法点：间接引语：陈述句 (Reported Speech: Statements)
间接引语用来转述别人说过的话，而不是逐字引用。转述陈述句时，用 said (that) / told sb. (that) 引出宾语从句，去掉引号。如果转述动词是过去式，从句时态通常要“往后退一步”：一般现在时→一般过去时，一般过去时→过去完成时，will→would。同时人称代词和时间、地点词也要相应变化（I→she, today→that day）。本课中 Jenny 说的话几乎全部用间接引语转述。

- said + that 从句；told + 宾语 + that 从句（told 后必须有人）。
- 一般疑问句转述用 if / whether；特殊疑问句保留疑问词，语序改为陈述语序。
课文中的例句
- [句 7] As soon as he had finished Jenny told him she wanted to go home. — told him + 从句：直接引语 "I want to go home" 变为 she wanted。
- [句 9] On the way home, he asked Jenny if she had enjoyed the speech. — 转述一般疑问句用 if，Did you enjoy 变为 had enjoyed。
- [句 10] To his surprise she said she hadn't. — said + 从句，hadn't 是 hadn't enjoyed it 的省略。
- [句 11] Jeremy asked her why this was so and she told him that she did not like to see so many people laughing at him! — 转述特殊疑问句保留 why，用陈述语序；told him that 转述陈述句。
- [句 3] Recently, one of Jeremy's closest friends asked him to make a speech at a wedding reception. — asked sb. to do 转述请求，不用 that 从句。

- Jenny said that she did not want to stay at the party. — 珍妮说她不想留在聚会上。
- Jeremy told his friend that he had prepared the speech carefully. — 杰里米告诉朋友他已经认真准备了演讲。
- She said she would never laugh at her father. — 她说她永远不会嘲笑她的父亲。
易错点
- ❌ Jenny told she wanted to go home. → ✅ Jenny told him she wanted to go home. —— told 后面必须接“告诉的对象”，或改用 said。
- ❌ Jenny said him that she wanted to go home. → ✅ Jenny said that she wanted to go home. / Jenny told him that… —— said 后不直接跟人，要说 said to him。
- ❌ He asked Jenny if she enjoyed the speech. → ✅ He asked Jenny if she had enjoyed the speech. —— 转述过去发生的事，一般过去时要退为过去完成时。
- ❌ He asked Jenny if had she enjoyed the speech. → ✅ He asked Jenny if she had enjoyed the speech. —— 间接引语中的疑问句要用陈述语序。
